Esther is always on a constant interaction with the diverse culture of users from Viki, where she observes and understands their behavior with relations to entertainment. She also takes this time to have fun exploring the different cultures and the next must watch dramas from true fans.
She works closely with the design team, product managers and engineers to answer questions and overcome obstacles when trying to understand the direction to take in creating or moving a design forward.
How did you learn about UXSG?
There was a time when I felt stuck and needed to get out of my cave to meet people in the UX industry. I was always afraid of going to events or meet-ups alone but UXSG kinda helped me be more comfortable with people. I guess it was the sharing of experiences that were so relatable to me as if I had already been in the community for long.
What made you volunteer for the UXSG Conference this year?
I was a student volunteer in the previous UXSG conference. Even though my role was small, it was one of my proudest moments that I could make an impact to the community with a team of passionate UX practitioners wanting to make a difference for my and their future. I know I wanted to learn and achieve more than that, therefore I’m here as a volunteer.
How has the journey been?
Like a rollercoaster – fun, busy and unpredictable.. It’s the kind of ride that you know is scary but will be worth it.
What are your personal quirks?
I laugh easily and I think I can be awarded for having the longest laughter among my friends.
