How did you learn about UXSG?
I was placed I/C of the mobile and UX centre of excellence at iProperty in 2011 and had to quickly understand how we could introduce the capability within the organisation. Luckily met Raven and he also introduced Daniel Szuc, Jo Wong and Khai Seng (who is a JC schoolmate!). Through many conversations and checking out UXHK, I came to understand Raven’s goals for UXSG community and signed up shortly after Meetup #1.
What made you volunteer for the UXSG Conference this year?
Have volunteered since Meetup #2 and seen 2 conferences so far. Main driver for me is the believe that the platform is a fantastic environment for people who wish to learn (as I did) about applying UX methods into work when our own work environments is restrictive. There is a freedom to experiment and yet also learn from those around us.
How has the journey been?
The conference volunteer team this year is the largest we are seeing. It is slowly shaping up to how a real team would work IRL but still many challenges as most people don’t work remotely as a normal so everyone is dealing with that and the challenges of the conference.
What are your personal quirks?
I often talk about cycling before anything else nowadays 🙂
Is there any words of advice or quotes you live by?
Don’t be afraid to experiment and change. “It is often easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission.” is my personal way of work.
