Call for Student Volunteers

We’re currently inviting local students to join our 26-strong all-volunteer team in creating and delivering a unique, personable and memorable experience for attendees at the biannual UXSG Conference 2016 from 7-9 September 2016.

Applications will close on Monday, 18 July 2016 – 2359 hours.

   WHO are we looking for?

Any student from our local polytechnic, ITE, JC or university is welcome to apply. You should have a keen interest in UX and an enthusiastic learning attitude but do not need to be studying a UX-related field nor have experience in the industry.

As a student volunteer, you will be expected to:

  • Provide us with a valid student ID card for verification purposes
  • Attend an orientation session
  • Be punctual for all meetings and activities
  • Commit a minimum of 20 hours prior to the conference
  • Be available for the full duration of the conference from 7 – 9 September
  • Serve stipulated roles during the conference

Do note that volunteering with UXSG Conference 2016 is not a part of your school curriculum.
All time and effort contributed is solely at your own undertaking and for your personal educational development.

WHAT will you be helping in?

Student volunteers can expect to help in the following areas:

  • Pre-conference logistics preparation
  • Conference setup and registration
  • Conference ushering and ambassadorship
  • Conference teardown
  • And more!
WHEN can you expect to start?

There are no fixed meeting dates at present. However, you are expected to commit your time from as early as the first week of August with approximately 4 – 6 hours every weekend for the next 5 weeks. Pre-event preparation will definitely intensify in the lead up to the conference.

   WHY should you join?

The UXSG Conference 2016 planning team isn’t simply organising an event about UX – it also uses UX best practices and methodologies to design and run the conference. As a student volunteer, you will get a firsthand look at what it means to be a UX practitioner.

As our student volunteers from the previous 2 conferences can attest, we are committed to providing you with a fun and unique hands-on learning experience, along with the opportunity to interact with and glean from the planning team.

   HOW do you apply?

Submit an online application to register your interest as a student volunteer. You will need to briefly share why you wish to join us, your learning goals and a couple other questions for us to know you more. You will also need to attach a photo of your student ID / campus / ez-link card in the application form.

The deadline to register is Monday, 18 July 2016 – 2359hrs.
Shortlisted candidates will be notified by email on Monday, 25 July 2016 and interviewed prior to confirmation of service.

Application is closed! Thank you to those who have expressed your interest 🙂
